The Video Mapping Festival offers a Video Mapping Contest as part of the Lille tour. In addition to the 4 000€ grant for the creation, each winner (Grand Prize and Audience Prize) will receive a second financial prize to propose a creation, one for the next edition of iMapp Bucharest (monetary prize offered by iMapp Bucharest), the other for the Lyon Festival of Lights (monetary prize of 4000€ offered by Christie).

IN COMPETITION
Concurrent n°1
OOOPStudio (Italy)
▶︎ Kairos: the opportune moment to shape the future
A tide of change sweeps us forward. We explore the symphonic potential of AI, where human and digital minds co-create. Water, the lifeblood of Earth, ignites a digital renaissance. The Palais des Beaux-Arts transforms into a living organism, birthing new realities.
Architecture’s deconstruction and fluid simulations bridge these nascent worlds, a narrative journey towards a future we can collectively sculpt.
Direction and editing: Alessandro Grisendi – OOOPStudio
3D animation: Marco Noviello – OOOPStudio
Music: Sophie Schnell
Concurrent n°2
Design Lab (Tunisia)
▶︎ Lucide
Lucide plunges us into the meanders of sleep, where lucid dreaming flourishes. Following the cycles of sleep, we explore a realm where physical rules give way to creative extravagance. In this state of transition, the journey becomes an exploration of the unbridled imagination, where the subconscious manifests itself with brilliance.
Through strange encounters and ephemeral landscapes, Lucide offers a visual and sound journey, deliciously illusionary, where reality and illusion merge in a mesmerising dance.
Video design and creation: Elyes Rebai, Fahd Bouaziz, Zouhour Saoud – Design Lab
Music and sound composition: Ahmed Boudaouara, Karim Ben Amor
Concurrent n°3
Miruna Croitoru (Romania)
▶︎ UNVEIL
“In the current social context in which the world is currently, I felt the need of escapism through art. I opted to approach this work by using magical elements and by speaking to the raw authentic human spirit. It is important to me that I created a story that elevates a common feeling in all of us: every individual is being isolated in society, and is living into a world that is unnatural and unintuitive for human nature to thrive in. The common element that unconsciously binds us is our folklore. Folk, myths and legends are a product of our collective spirit of ancient origins, and through this magical lens, the most authentic characteristics of humans come to the surface. I chose to illustrate the slavic folklore in my work because it is the most authentic for me.”
Direction and animation: Miruna Croitoru
Music: Oj lulaj et Marzenecka de Percival Schuttenbach, Biciul striga primavara de Argatu
Concurrent n°4
Jésus s.Baptista (France)
▶︎ Baggers of clouds
Baggers of clouds expresses concern about the potential disappearance of our natural environment, which is fundamental to our identity. The race for technological progress is distancing us from our roots, reducing interaction with nature to virtual interfaces. Humans are exploiting natural resources to transcend the physical, but this is not without consequences.
Direction: Jésus s.Baptista
Sound composition: Amadeo Savio
Concurrent n°5
Dirk Rauscher (Germany)
▶︎ Neo Roman Dust
Neo Roman Dust is an homage to the building and the Palais des Beaux-Arts architecture itself. It follows the lines and forms of the architecture while revealing the facade to get an artistic glimpse inside with his collection of famous statues. Some of these statues are actually shown in the exhibition (such as Satyr and Bacchante, Spartacus).
The aim of this mapping is to celebrate beauty and elegance in and of itself. To serve as an audiovisual peaceful light in the dark in these disturbing times.
Direction and animation: Dirk Rauscher
Music: Rex Banner
Concurrent n°6
Liudmila Siewerski (Germany)
▶︎ Oblique
Oblique reimagines architecture by fusing utopian ideals, digital art, and urban gardening, offering a visionary narrative that sparks inspiration. Seamlessly blending nature’s beauty with architectural elements, it fosters dialogue between nature and technology, captivating viewers with its innovative vision for urban transformation.
Direction and animation: Liudmila Siewerski
Composition: Asako Fujimoto
Concurrent n°7
Fred Ebami, Bianca Turner (France, Brazil)
▶︎ Breaking the walls
“In this audiovisual piece, we choose to tell the stories of those never mentioned, the workers, those behind the walls, those building, cleaning, welcoming, the ones who make the building alive and existing. Also the stories of the artists who are never represented inside the Fine Arts Museums, the coloured, the children, and also the woman painters who lack space inside the museums. Questioning : What’s Art? Defined by whom and for who?”
Fred Ebami’s pop art style with warm and contrasted colours shake the Palais des Beaux-Arts, as Bianca Turner’ composition and video mapping creation brings the rhythmic and historical layer to the piece.
