____________

GRAND PRIZE

MehlWelten

URBANSCREEN / Germany / 2023 / Object video mapping / 5 min
Art director: Julian Hölscher
Music, sound design: Anders Wasserfall
Design of the kinetic wall: Carsten Falkenberg
Technical realization: LYNX Media Systems

Showing : MehlWelten Museum, Wittenburg, Germany – 1st of April 2023 (permanent exhibition)

MehlWelten is a video projection in combination with a kinetic sculpture. Flour processing in a modern mill is basically not visible, as all processes take place in a closed pipe system. This innovative didactic concept translates the processing steps from grain to refined flour into abstract images and conveys an idea of the efficiency of these modern facilities.

PRIZE FOR BEST SOUND DESIGN

ravensbeat

Jonas Denzel / Germany / 2023 / Monument video mapping / 9 min 47
Music, sound design: Sören Schaudel

Showing: Obertor, Ravensburg, Germany – 18th of August 2023 (10th anniversary of Museumsviertel Ravensburg)

ravensbeat is a projection not only visually based on the architecture of the Obertor but also in case of sound: the sound was recorded exclusively on the Obertor itself by knocking, clapping and wiping on the facade. Those field recordings were composed to a rousing beat. The work engages with the audience by inviting them to clap along to the rhythm within a call and response.

INNOVATION PRIZE

For the Chemnitz’s first Light Our Vision Festival, ruestungsschmie.de was entrusted with the historic SED Party building and the Karl-Marx-Monument. They created a two-part mapping that dissolves surfaces, revealing hidden contents and creating new visual axes and perspectives.

JURY SPECIAL MENTION

HAZIAK – SEMILLAS

Hartung | Trenz / Germany / 2023 / Monument video mapping / 12 min 31

Words like “empathy” – densely placed – form rings of light moving over the building. Countless letters flow out of these structures like plant seeds and interact with other circles. Expressions like “mindfulness” or “tolerance” form a reference and a claim to the use of the building, then as now.
